THIEVES CAN’T STEAL MCCASHNEY’S SPIRIT

Ben McCashney had a rude awakening to the dark side of humanity this morning.
At 04.45am McCashney and team manager Ged Stokes woke, startled to find a stranger standing over Ged’s bed in their motel room with his arms full of mobile phones and cash.

The thief managed to evade the clutches of Ged and Ben and shot off into the early morning darkness, much to the horror of McCashney.
Police and Police Dogs began an immediate search for the culprit but had not any breakthroughs at the time of writing.
“We lost our phones, our wallets and our cash,” said a dejected McCashney this morning at the track, “I’m still a bit shaken, you don’t expect to see someone standing over your bed in your motel room with all your valuables.”

McCashney did what any talented, focused racecar driver would do, later that morning.
He ran some spirited laps in the two practice sessions and figured prominently in the top ten in the first session and then was just outside the top ten in session two when the brake pedal went to the floor.
“We decided not to mess with the car any longer and brought Ben in for the rest of the second session,” explains Ged, “we think he did a hell of a job under the circumstances. It’s hard to maintain your confidence around a street circuit when you don’t have any anchors.”

Ben was credited with 12th over the two practice sessions and now re-groups for Saturday’s qualifying.
“Considering what we’d been through early Friday morning Ben’s drive in the two sessions was fantastic. He’s a very focused driver. I don’t know how he did it.”
It just goes to show, you can steal a man’s wallet, his mobile phone and his cash, but you can’t necessarily steal his spirit!

Ben McCashney would like to thank Steel Blue Footwear / Playstation / Rockstar Energy Drink and associate sponsors for their support this weekend.
